The Archimedes Movement
A letter to the editor from Walt Edwards Please contact me using this number: 1-541-247-7077 Past issues available on my web site: getwel-newsletter.
The recent Pilot article about the Archimedes Movement by
Marjorie Woodfin prompted me to do some research on the subject of
health care. The training and education of medical doctors in the
U.S. is specifically to treat disease. To accomplish this task, very
expensive equipment is used for diagnosis. Doctors are unable to
prescribe pharmaceutical drugs with out first identifying a problem.
Unfortunately the diagnosis is wrong in many cases which means the
patient is taking the wrong drug for the incorrect diagnosis.
Prescription drug related deaths in this country are over 200,000 lost
lives per year.
News Media Report Reduced Sickness and Cancer In America! If this is true why are: More people get cancer than ever before. More people have diabetes than ever before. More people have heart disease than ever before. More people have multiple sclerosis, lupus, muscular dystrophy, asthma, migraine headaches, joint, neck and back pain than ever before. More people have acid reflex, ulcers, and stomach problems than ever before. More people suffer from allergies, arthritis, constipation, fibromyalgia, cold sores and herpetic breakouts than ever before. More kids have attention deficit disorder and hyperactivity than ever before. More people suffer depression, stress, and anxiety than ever before. There are more people going to visit doctors than ever before. There are more people getting diagnostic testing, such as blood test and x-rays, than ever before. More people are taking nonprescription and prescription drugs than ever before. There are more surgeries performed than ever before. A recent published study shows that over the next five years, appropriate use of select dietary supplements would improve the health of key populations and save the nation more than $24 billion in health care costs. The study, commissioned by the Dietary Supplement education Alliance (DSEA), updated research conducted by The Lewin Group in 2004 and 2005 that included a systematic literature review of the most rigorous scientific research available. "Rapidly escalating health care costs in the U.S. have severe implications for our society as a whole," noted DSEA. "This study provides valuable data that may lead to preventative health care solutions and address the budgetary problems facing federal and state health insurance programs, corporate health cost managers and individual families." Disease care in the U.S. is not working. More people are getting medical treatment, taking more drugs, having more diagnostic testing and having more surgeries than ever before in history. People must take responsibility for their own health. Changing their diet and lifestyle is a good start. The Archimedes movement is a cry for action, "We can do better."
