Tuesday, September 11thThe events of Tuesday, September 11th will not be soon forgotten. Americanšs suffered the worse disaster in history. Reactions of American citizens went from shock to disbelief to grief--and finally, to resolve. There are lessons to be learned. What these lessons are will depend to a great deal as to your perception of those actions that occurred. There are many Americans who are angry and have expressed their desire to take up arms against the terrorists. This tragic attack has rekindled the patriotism not seen since WW II. It is understood how this sensitivity and patriotism is to be expected following such a horrific incident. But we must be careful not to confuse that sensitivity with racism. Since September 11th, many examples of prejudice against Arab or Middle Eastern descent have been experienced and evident in the headlines and television reports. At a time emotions are high and critical decisions are to be made, there are serious considerations that should be evaluated before committing our troops to a shooting War which could, very likely, result in more innocent victims. Some questions to ponder are: (1) How do you battle an opponent who hates everything you stand for, has nothing to lose, and being a martyr is the will of his God? (2) How can you prevent the brain washing of individuals who have little education, no economic future and nothing to live for other than being remembered as a martyr? (3) Is there a value in learning why these martyrs have such strong hate? (4) Will the United Nations support our actions? There are those who believe in an "eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth." These terrorists have attacked us and we must do the same to them and their supporters. Another way of expressing this message is, "That which ye sow ye reap." It is the eternal law of cause and effect. For every action there is a reaction. The Divine Law of Justice restores the equilibrium disturbed by men through ignorance and selfishness. Whether they are good or bad, we alone are responsible for our actions and will ultimately enjoy or suffer from those actions. Asthma May Range From Mild to Life Threatening!According to the American Lung Association, an estimated 16 million Americans are affected by asthma, a chronic lung condition characterized by inflammation of the airways. Among chronic illnesses in children, asthma is the most common, affecting twice as many boys as girls. Approximately 33 percent of asthma patients are under the age of eighteen. Asthma can become serious. Over 6,000 people in North American die annually from the disease. Symptoms include: coughing (especially when exercising), wheezing, shortness of breath, a heavy feeling in the chest and waking at night due to breathing difficulties. Most asthmatics have an allergy to some offending agent. This allergy then acts as the "trigger" that causes the inflammatory, lung-damaging asthma process to begin. Delayed symptoms may include dark circles under the eyes, red-rimmed or swollen, watery eyes, runny nose, constant nose rubbing, inflamed tonsils, skin rashes, eczema, diarrhea, gas, bloated stomach, headaches, dizziness, brain fog, fatigue, and joint pain. Nutrients reduce attacks... Unless the asthmatic is eating seven to ten half-cup servings of organic fruits and vegetables every day, a good daily multivitamin with minerals is necessary. Quercetin -- This bioflavonoid is a potent anti-allergy and antihistamine activity. Vitamin C--This powerful antihistamine helps control the release of histamine from mast cells. Magnesium--Most of us are deficient in this mineral, which is required by the body for over 3000 enzymatic reactions. Every time we drink caffeinated beverages we lose magnesium. Magnesium helps reduce inflammation and relax bronchial tubes. Fish Oil--A powerful anti-inflammatory agent that reduces leukotrienes, biochemicals that promote and prolong inflammation. Vitamin E--A study of 77,000 women found those who consumed the most vitamin E had about half the risk of developing asthma compared to women who consumed the least amount of vitamin E. Helpful Herbs -- Lobelia extract under the tongue as needed relaxes chest constriction. Astragalus-Echinacea extract and una da goto extract to strengthen the immune system. Foods to avoid--dairy products, sulfites, preservatives or MSG, high gluten breads, oil and fried foods and sugary foods. Avoid soft drinks and caffeine. Is Your Stomach Trying To Tell You Something? Healthy digestion is needed for every crucial, life-sustaining function of your body. Your ability to properly digest food and fully absorb all of the nutrients it provides affects every aspect of your health. You are not what you eat... but what you absorb! As you age, your body produces fewer of the enzymes you need to properly digest food. Your body produces only 25% of your digestive enzymes. The rest are meant to come from your diet. However, enzymes are very sensitive to heat, so when you cook and process your food many of these valuable nutrients are eliminated. Those people who have a habit of eating diets heavy with cooked and processed foods as opposed to raw are more likely to suffer from degenerative diseases such as Arthritis and heart disease. Eating a diet high in processed foods, red meats, or rich, fatty foods damages the acid/alkaline balance of your stomach and intestines, opening the door to an onslaught of health threats, including: (1) Poor absorption of nutrients resulting in deficiencies causing depression, arthritis, osteoporosis and hardening of the arteries. (2) An invasion of harmful bacteria and other toxins due to high pH in the stomach. (3) The constant discomfort and aggravation of constipation, gas, indigestion and bloating. (4) Frequent colds and flu, poor immune response, and chronic bad breath. (5) A never-ending drain on your pep, drive and energy level making you feel and look older than you are. Recommendations: Take digestive enzymes when you eat cooked food. Drink your water between meals. Donšt eat if you're angry or stressed. Beware of medications that can affect digestion. Thought for the Day: Your thoughts generate your actions! So be careful of what you think about today --- it will, very well, manifest and occur tomorrow! |
