A. What Causes Arthritis and What Can You Do About It...
B. More Kids Get Type II Diabetes...
C. Liver Health Figures in Most Major Diseases...
A. Pain, stiffness and immobility in the bones and joints are symptoms
almost every American will feel at some point in the second half of his
or her life. For some people, the discomforts come early in the form of
arthritis resulting from inflammation, immune dysfunction, injury or
trauma. Why should this disease be such a major health problem in the
U.S.?
There was a day when Americans ate farm fresh food that brimmed with
vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients. As the soil became depleted,
chemicals were added. Besides dead, devitalized, demineralized,
devitamininized foods that have been bleached, leached and refined of
all nature's goodness, our food industry substituted a few synthetic
"enriching" additives and a hundred chemical additives that gradually
polluted our entire systems.
The average American consumes over 165 pounds of sugar foods yearly. In
addition, we consume gallons of soft drinks, colas, tea, coffee,
expresso, and alcoholic beverages - trading a few minutes of physical
pleasure for years of depleted health.
If you tend to repress your emotional feelings and your diet consists of
cooked food from boxes, with an abundance of high carbohydrates you
will be paving the way to pain, stiffness and immobility in the bones
and joints which are symptoms of arthritis! Watch for two warning signs
that are a common "welcome" mat to arthritis: 1. Fatigue. 2.
Constipation. (9 out of 10 people who don't consider themselves
constipated...are!)
Food allergies and arthritis. The usual initial suspects belong to
vegetables from the nightshade family: White potatoes, tomatoes,
peppers and eggplant. Tobacco also belongs to this family. Some people
with arthritis also feel that dairy products aggravate their symptoms.
Vital minerals and Essential Unsaturated Fatty Acids are very important
to prevent Arthritis, as well as relieve Arthritis symptoms. The three
most popular supplements useful for joint health are glucosamine,
chondroitin and MSM. Besides Vitamins A and D, other supplements to
consider are B Complex, Vitamins C and E.
B. Type II Diabetes until recently was called "adult-onset" because it
almost never struck young people. In type-I diabetes, the body
completely ceases to make insulin - a hormone vital to controlling sugar
levels in the bloodstream - and stopping injections could land a patient
in the hospital within hours. But people with type II often have no
symptoms because their bodies produce at least some insulin. As a
result, they can go undiagnosed until complications strike.
Over the last 20 years, type-II diabetes has increased approximately
tenfold among children and adolescents. Specialists are calling the
increase an epidemic, driven by a rise in childhood obesity. If this
epidemic continues in the next 20 years we will produce a generation of
adults with advanced diabetes complication - cardiovascular disease,
kidney failure, amputations and medical costs that will result in
extremely high insurance fees.
C. As the core organ for detoxification, the state of the liver should
be considered in any preventive health evaluation. Americans are
exposed to increasing extremes of toxicity from environmental
pollutants, chemicals, preservatives, pharmaceuticals, microbes,
bio-warfare agents and metabolic wastes. Smokers are endangered by
noxious additives (many listed as hazardous substances). An FDA survey
found 38% of foods have high pesticide residues (pesticides doubled in
the last 3 decades).
Symptoms of liver congestion include coated tongue, circles under the
eyes, bloating, weight gain, mood changes, fluid retention, headaches,
hypoglycemia, chronic fatigue and high blood pressure. Scientists have
identified methionine, magnesium, vitamin C, B5, B12 and folic acid as
the most vital liver protectors, which work in synergy with herbals and
other botanical support. Besides making changes in the diet, the first
step is to detoxify the colon.
Milk Thistle (silymarin) is at the top of the list of herbs to benefit
the liver. It acts as an antioxidant to prevent free radicals causing
decomposition of liver cell membranes. Cleanse Smart (Renew Life) is a
good start to detox the system.
Thought of the Day... Seneca, the Roman philosopher, said some twenty
centuries ago, "Man does not die. He kills himself!" Seneca knew about
man's self-indulgence. He saw what a soft life and over-indulgence in
improper food and drink was doing to people.
