Vaccines, Autism and Thyroid

(1) There Is Terror On The Vaccine Front!
(2) The Threat Of Autism!
(3) Recognize The Subtle Signs of Thyroid Deficiency!

(1) It's high time vaccinologists were held accountable for their horrendous record of death and maiming. The three greatest vaccinations scandals, which should have been enough to have brought about the truth and alerted the establishment. However, it has caused hardly a ripple and the news media very rarely even mentions it.

You may have heard about the near mutiny in the military, primarily in the officer ranks, over the anthrax vaccine. At the risk of court marshal, personnel were refusing to submit to the shots, even after a direct order. Many of those who received the vaccine came down with unexplained ailments similar to those who were inoculated in the Gulf War. It took several years for the government to even consider that inoculations were the culprit.

Another vaccine disaster is the brain tumor epidemic now raging here and worldwide. For years, American children were injected with a polio vaccine contaminated by a monkey disease called Simian Virus 40 (SV 40). This virus was known to cause brain tumors in experimental animals. But, for years, the doctors continued to give the vaccine to children even though they knew it was contaminated.

The American press seems to keep a tight lid on the vaccine scandals because the discovery of these crimes by the people could completely discredit the government as well as the American medicine. In 1998, a polio vaccine given to tens of thousands of children in Great Britain contained serum from a donor who had been diagnosed with Crutzfeld Jocob disease (CJD) also known as "Mad Cow" disease. This breakdown in donor screening caused panic and rage in the population, but the officials calmed the populace. They announced that since the donor's plasma was mixed with that of more than 63,000 others, the risk was "almost certainly" zero. However, it is believed that one prion, even smaller than a virus, is sufficient to cause the dreaded CJD.

(2) Autism is actually a spectrum of behavioral disorders that causes repeated behaviors, bizarre behavior and inability to communicate. One in every 500 children is now diagnosed with autism. According to California records, it has increased 1000% in the past 20 years! Autism used to account for 3% of the caseload of the California Department of Economic Security. It now account for 34% of the caseload and costs taxpayers about two million dollars per child. These figures include only autism and not related disorders such as PPD, NOS, and other autism spectrum disorders.

There is no official medical cause or cure for autism. Autism foundations often focus on discovering a genetic cause, but have yet to succeed. However, it is possible to piece together a number of contributing factors. The following is known:

*Fully 93% of cases of autism begin after children are vaccinated! Dr. Joseph Mercola, who has treated hundreds of autistic children, particularly indicts the hepatitis B vaccine, given on the child's first day of life. At that time, children do not have a developed immune system and their nervous system is very vulnerable. In the USA, the number of vaccines has increased from 8 in 1980 to 22 today.

*About 80% of autistic children have auto-antibodies in their blood that are present in only about 5% of normal children. These auto-antibodies are related to viruses such as measles, mumps and cytomegalovirus. Some are specifically related to the MMR vaccine.

*99% of autistic children in a recent study have dysfunctional metabllothionein metabolism. Metallothioneir is a carrier protein required for mercury, copper and other metal detoxification. *Many autistic children are highly allergic to milk protein. Strict avoidance of all milk products is beneficial for many of these children. Avoiding wheat and sugar also helps many autistic children.

Is There A Correction For Autism? In addition to avoidance of allergic foods and a scientifically designed nutrition program may be helpful for autism in several ways. The first is by enhancing digestion and absorption. This may require digestive enzymes, probiotics such as acidophilus, anti-candida supplements and dietary changes to help rebuild the digestive system.

(3)Everybody knows an under active thyroid can cause weight gain and fatigue. But does it cause high cholesterol and triglycerides? Absolutely, along with a host of other, less obvious symptoms, including constipation, dry skin, hair loss, slow heart-beat, cold hands and feet, slow wound healing, depression, memory disturbances, and difficulty concentrating. Hypothyroidism can also contribute to an increased risk of heart attack, stroke and osteoporosis. And if a woman with low thyroid function becomes pregnant, her child's cognitive development may be impaired as well. According to a 1999 study published in the New England Journal of Medicine, children of women who had even mild, asymptomatic hypothyroidism during pregnancy tested four to seven points lower on I.Q. tests than children of women with normal thyroid levels.

Hypothyroidism is more common than you might suspect. According to the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, about 1 in 8 women from 35 to 65 years of age has low thyroid function, as does 1 in 5 over 65. Men are not immune to this condition. Its incidence is about seven times greater in women. If you're a woman over the age of 50, you may think symptoms such as fatigue, mood swings and forgetfulness are the consequences of menopause. But many of the symptoms of hypothyroidism mimic those of menopause. As a result, this condition frequently goes undiagnosed.

Over half of the 13 million Americans who have thyroid disorders don't know it. Unfortunately, the routine blood test is not the most accurate test to detect low thyroid. The gold standard for the diagnosis of hypothyroidism is the thyrotropin test, a highly sensitive test that measures blood levels of thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH). This pituitary hormone acts like an on/off switch, regulating the production and secretion of thyroid hormones. When thyroid function is low, levels of TSH are abnormally high. Other tests measure free or total T4 (thyroxine) and T3 (triiodothyronine), which are hormones produced by the thyroid gland. While these tests will help monitor your condition, normal levels of these hormones donÕt always rule out hypothyroidism.

If you suspect low thyroid function in spite of normal blood levels, here's a test you can perform at home. A basal thermometer is easier, but a regular thermometer will do. Shake it down at night and keep it at your bedside. First thing in the morning, while you're still in bed, put it under your armpit for 10 minutes. Record the temperature and repeat this process for four days to get an average temp. reading. Women who are still menstruating should note that only temperatures taken on the first through fourth day of the cycle are accurate. A reading consistently below 97.6 suggest inadequate thyroid production.

Some of the factors which can cause thyroid problems, and decrease the rate at which the body burns calories, include malnourishment because of nutrient deficiencies, thyroid and/or pituitary exhaustion because of over-stimulation from caffeine, sugar, or other stimulants. Hard liquor also inhibit the thyroid function.

The best-selling brand is Synthroid, but more aware doctors are going natural for good reason: Synthroid contains only T4, which is not the only hormone produced by the thyroid gland. T3 and other substances present in the thyroid should be replaced along with T4. This is why most alternative physicians recommend Armour Thyroid or another form of natural desiccated porcine thyroid. Clinical studies have shown that treatment with a gamut of thyroid hormones results in more dramatic improvement than treatment with isolated T4 (Synthroid), particularly in measures of mood and brain function. In a report published in the February 11, 1999, issue of the New England Journal of Medicine, 31 women and two men with no thyroid function were given their usual dose of T4 for five weeks. During the second five weeks of the study, T3 was added. Tests administered during both phases of the study revealed improvements in 6 of 17 measures of mood and cognitive function in patients while taking both thyroid hormones. Since replacing both T4 and T3 produces the greatest improvement in the quality of life, why should any patient settle for a synthetic form of only one thyroid hormone?

Prozac and Similar Drugs are Killing People! Govenment does nothing to caution use.

Through the years, doctors and patients alike have become "brain washed" to believe that there is a drug to solve any health problem, including depression and other behavior problems. Millions of prescriptions have been filled for Prozac since its market debut in 1987. Sadly, this so-called "wonder drug" comes with a heavy price. Low libido, loss of empathy, dry mouth and eyes, dizziness, nausea, headaches, and insomnia are only some of Prozac side effects. A 1990 study published in Journal of American Psychiatry, Prozac use led to "intense, violent suicidal preoccupation." Prozac has been linked to over 23,067 adverse drug reactions, 1,436 suicide attempts and as many as 1,313 deaths! In 1994, as many as 160 Prozac-related lawsuits were submitted against the manufacturer, Eli Lilly.

The national debate on the epidemic of teen violence has ignored the widespread use of prescription drugs in teens and particularly those who have committed terrible anti-social acts of violence. The drug-violence link is frighteningly common. Fifteen-year-old Shawn Cooper of Notus, Idaho, fired a shotgun at students and school staff. According to his stepfather, he had been taking an SSRI. Thirteen-year-old Chris Fetters of Iowa killed her favorite aunt. She was taking Prozac.

Eric Harris, one of the shooters at the Columbine High School massacre was reported taking Luvox, which, like Prozac, Zoloft and Paxil, belongs to the class of drugs known as selective serotoinin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). In one out of every 25 children taking Luvox causes mania, "a psychosis characterized by exalted feelings, delusions of grandeur...and over production of ideas."

Kristine Marie Cushing, age 39, had been separated from her husband for several months. In October 1991, she took a .38-caliber pistol and shot and killed both of her children, Elizabeth, age 8, and Stephanie Marie, age 4, while they lay sleeping in their beds, then shot herself, inflicting a non-fatal wound. Prosecutors stated that they "couldnÕt find one iota of information to show that she was anything but a very giving, caring and sweet human being." After a plea of insanity, she was committed to a mental institution. What could have made her snap? She had been taking Prozac.

Ann Blake Tracy, Ph.D., author of Prozac: Panacea or Pandora?. has been studying the violent, dark side of SSRI drugs for ten years. She has researched 32 murder/suicides that involved women and their children. She has determined that in 24 of these 32 cases, the women were taking Prozac or another SSRI.

Defenders of Prozac are probably unaware of how Eli Lilly gained FDA approval for the use of Prozac. In the clinical trials submitted to the FDA, Eli Lilly studied the drug in less than 300 people and for only four or six weeks. However, one out of every seven participants dropped out of the study because of side effects of the drug. A recent evaluation found that nearly 70% of those who are prescribed the drug do not take it as prescribed, probably due to its undesirable side effects. And this is a drug touted to make people feel better!

According to Peter Breggin, M.D., author of Your Drug May Be Your Problem, "there is substantial evidence that many classes of psychiatric drugs - including antidepressants, such as SSRIs - can cause or exacerbate depression, suicide, paranoia and violence." In an earlier book Dr. Breggin says these drugs rob people of their humanity - they lose their capacity for empathy. These drugs are not helping people. At best, they blunt your experience of both the joys and the sorrows of the human experience. "A lot of what we are seeing is individuals losing their feeling for the people in their lives. They stop caring about their husbands or wives or children. Though zombie-like numbness may initially be felt to be an improvement by someone with depression, it can hardly be considered healthy, or even desirable. It is hard to believe any doctor could knowingly prescribe a drug that may generate violence and numb the individual to the consequences of their actions.

There are at least two current lawsuits against Pfizer, the manufacturer of Zoloft. The family of the late television actor Phil Hartman claims that Brynn Hartman, PhilÕs wife and the mother of their two children, was under the influence of Zoloft when she shot and killed her husband while he was sleeping, then killed herself. The family of Matthew Miller is also suing the company over the fatal consequences of this drug in their son. Matthew Miller was only 13-years-old when a psychiatrist gave him samples of Zoloft with the instructions to "give it a try for a week." On the seventh day, Matthew committed suicide by hanging himself in his closet.

A large segment of our population is becoming zombie-like, non-caring individuals by these legal prescription SSRI drugs. This loss of empathy and the violence that can result from the use of these drugs must be considered a concern for everyone including the FDA. The news media recently reported that Prozac is even being considered for PMS. There are reports of children under the age of three have already been given Prozac. Don't be surprised when drug companies will offer a flavored form of Prozac for children. If you or a family member are taking this type of drug, talk to your doctor about alteratives. Write your Congressman about your concerns. As the evidence mounts, the tide is bound to turn against these drugs, but how much human suffering must be endured before that occurs is the question we all must face.
