Total Health Involves Mind, Body and Spirit! By Walt "dr health" Edwards Please contact me using this number: 1-541-247-7077 Past issues available on my web site: getwel-newsletter. Your "SELF IMAGE" or "how you see yourself" can be a major factor to your physical health. The thoughts generated by your mind are powerful messages that affect both your emotional and mental well-being which are directly linked to physical health. You may think you eat a healthy diet. You may even be taking what you think are good supplements and getting some kind of exercise. But, if you're not happy and you experience friction and turmoil in your inner spirit, you are out of balance on the road to illness. Symptoms are the usually the first signals of this imbalance. Other factors that can contribute to imbalance: poor digestion, poor diet, poor elimination, high stress levels, lack of exercise and pH level which is chronically low or high. Many complaints about the low carb diet are due to the fact that the diet is NOT being followed properly. Extensive research has revealed that the brain responds to negative or conflicting thoughts by releasing stress chemicals. These in turn, negatively affect the body and it's organs, creating numerous symptoms. On the other side of the coin, positive and harmonious thoughts release chemical responses that heal and restore the body. It would seem only logical that the journey to good health is to live in a more positive and wholesome manner that reveres all of life and its sacredness. To live a soulful life full of love, generosity, wisdom and compassion releases a flow of deeply healing neurological and chemical signals, there by producing good health, well-being and longevity. To most of us, this is a life long learning process of becoming more aware of who we are and our purpose for being here on this beautiful planet. Root Causes of Illness: Self-doubt or powerlessness resulting from past experiences may prevent a person from living according to our soul's deeper intentions. Beliefs absorbed from our parents or society may cause conflict. Disease may be rooted in narcissism, arrogance, greed or materialism. When your personality and soul are at odds, what ever the reason, you cannot stand unified or strong. Symptoms begin to develop revealing this imbalance condition. Thoughts and emotions fluctuate from moment to moment due to events that occur in life. However, problems arise when one becomes fixed on a particular negative state of mind, such as fear, anger or hopelessness. If we become angry or depressed and remain, in that undesirable state, for a long period of time, the body will be inundated with injurious chemicals effecting every cell in your body. Your perception of your self and how you see the world you are living in will be affected. The majority of people will be seeking a fast fix to satisfy that empty feeling. The usual fast fix is with sugar and fats or high-glycemic foods, alcohol, drugs, etc. Anti-depression drugs from a doctor are also a favorite legal remedy to try filling that empty feeling. Some over the counter supplements available for this purpose are 5-HTP, B complex with B-12, Relora, Threonine, and SAMe. The Importance of pH Balance: Many factors influence pH levels within the body and is another cause of imbalance. (Test stripes, cost $8.99, can be used to check urine or saliva for pH level.) Is it important to track or be aware of your pH level? Professor Otto Warburg won the Nobel Prize in 1931 for proving that cancer cannot live in a cell rich in oxygen and with a balanced pH. He also found that cancer cells contain high fermentation values that comes very close to the fermentation values of wildly proliferating Torula yeasts. A stressed lifestyle and a diet high in sugar and processed foods feed yeast. While a lifestyle with a reduction of stress and a diet with enough pure water and rich in fresh raw vegetables places a body in a state of balance. There are books available that go into more detail about the role of pH balance in maintaining good health. Alph-Lipoic Acid's Effects on Diabetes: This wonderful supplement has been used in Europe for over 30 years to prevent and aid diabetic complications caused by overproduction of reactive oxygen species and nitrogen radicals. Alph-lipoc acid has also been shown to aid in increasing glucose uptake in skeletal muscles, as well as in enhancing insulin-stimulated glucose disposal. Alpha-lipoic acid has proven especially effective in treating diabetes-related neuropathy, the functional or pathological changes in the peripheral nervous system that can include pain, tingling, or sensory abnormalities. Every diabetic should be made aware of this supplement. Cardiac Arrhythmia: Having any sort of arrhythmia should compel your physician to question whether you have adequate magnesium levels, as low magnesium levels have been related to abnormal heart rhythms. Low magnesium commonly accompanies low potassium. Leg cramps, especially those that occur at night, can signal a magnesium deficiency. Coenzme Q10 (COQ10): Anyone experiencing heart related problems should be alerted to importance and role of this wonderful supplement to good health. Thought For The Day: All truth passes through three stages: First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as self-evident! |
