The word arthritis comes from the Greek Words "Arthron" and "Itis",
which literally means joint inflammatory disease. However, it is not only
joints but connective tissue throughout the body. Also, muscles and soft
tissue of several organs can be involved in the inflammatory process.
Close to one hundred different conditions are classified under
arthritis. All have common symptoms of aches and pains in the joints and
connective tissue throughout the body. The five most common kinds are:
Osteo-arthritis, Gout, Rheumatism, Rheumatoid and Eystemic Lupus. For the
purpose of this report we will not go into further detail of each type of
arthritis because the report would be a book. What the reader will
discover in this report is information from various references stated in a
manner that can be applied by the reader in improving their health.
Why Conventional Medical Remedies Fail
The average practitioner of orthodox medicine does not have a clear
understanding of the basic causative principles involved in arthritis, his
treatments and remedies are understandably symptomatic. The practitioner
is not treating the disease, but the isolated symptoms of the disease. He
or she treats an affected joint with injections, x-rays, and drugs as if it
was a question of an isolated disease of the joint. Why? Because treating
symptoms is the only method orthodox medicine is trained to practice, they administer pain-killing drugs which will relieve pain temporarily. But, in the long run, due to their many undesirable side effects, these drugs only cause more damage and ultimately aggravate the condition instead of improving it.
Arthritis is a systemic disease which affects the whole body. Therefore, the only measures that can be successful in correcting the disease, bringing it under control, and accomplishing a lasting cure, must
be ones directed at correcting its underlying causes. This can only be accomplished by treating the total body to help overcome the systemic disturbances, normalize the metabolic processes, and help restore all
normal functions of the body.
What Causes Arthritis?
Arthritis is caused by a metabolic disorder in the body. The distorted or disordered metabolism, in turn, is affected by health-destroying environmental factors, including faulty nutrition,
overeating, emotional and physical stresses, sedentary life, etc. The
arthritic patient usually suffers from general deterioration of health in
the form of sluggishness in the vital functions of his organs; incomplete
digestion and assimilation of foods; impaired elimination of metabolic
wastes and toxins from the system; a weakened nervous system and
circulation; etc.
Arthritis is not an unrelated, localized disease of certain joints. It is a systemic constitutional
disease which always affects the whole body and is caused by metabolic disorders and systemic
disturbances which effect all tissues of the body, specifically in collagen. These biochemical
changes cause inflammatory and degeneration to settle in various joint areas of the body.
